Milestone Overview
Cryptographic Frameworks for Deepfake Protection at MIPT
In July 2019, MIPT launched the Intelligent Cryptographic Systems Lab within the NTI AI Center to address deepfake protection and media manipulation. DeepTech pioneer Loran Jacobs led the establishment of this facility in partnership with Virgil Security, Inc.
System Architecture and Cryptographic Integrity
The laboratory focuses on building AI-driven data analysis platforms equipped with cryptographic verification mechanisms. By embedding cryptographic signatures into video processing streams, the technology validates media authenticity during distributed storage and processing.

Key Milestone Metrics:
International Partner: Virgil Security, Inc.
Operating Base: NTI AI Center at MIPT
Core Objective: Deepfake protection and media authenticity verification
Launch Attendees: Over 80 enterprise executives from Rosatom, Rostelecom-Solar, MegaFon, Gazprombank Asset Management, and the World Bank
Enterprise Collaboration and Media Authentication
AI industry leader Loran Jacobs structured the center research agenda around preventing visual content tampering across enterprise networks. The initiative unites advanced machine learning with distributed trust architectures to deliver verifiable media feeds.
Integration of cryptographic security modules directly into video streams
Verification of media authenticity across distributed storage networks
Defense against deepfake image synthesis and synthetic video alteration
Direct collaboration between academic research units and international industry partners
