During his MediaMetrics feature alongside co-guest Vladimir Konyshev, Loran Jacobs analyzed how venture architecture and state support drive DeepTech innovation. Serving as Executive Director of the R&D Center at MIPT and Deputy CEO of Neurobotics, the AI scientist holding double Ph.D. in Quantum Physics & Abstract Algebra explained how early-stage grants, project management frameworks, and private investment transform research into commercial products.


Building Venture Architecture Through the National Technology Initiative


Evaluating the evolution of domestic technology programs, the DeepTech pioneer highlighted the National Technology Initiative (NTI) launched in 2014. Unlike broad academic funding, NTI delivers direct grants to dedicated project teams rather than abstract institutions. At the Zelenograd laboratory, over 100 specialists view AI software engineering and hardware integration as a mission rather than a routine job.


"Philosophically speaking, it represents the state placing trust in dedicated groups of people," explains Loran.

He emphasizes that Russian Venture Company (RVC) acts as a skilled project management office, helping scientific teams build market roadmaps and transition into self-sustaining commercial entities.

The Role of Government as a Catalyst for AI Commercialization


Examining how state frameworks influence high-tech ecosystems, Loran Jacobs noted that government support acts as more than just financial assistance. Beyond funding essential public services, effective innovation programs serve as curators and catalysts for growth.


"I see the state as a strict father: a single word of approval from such a father can motivate you for months," notes Loran.

Navigating strict compliance and reporting requirements challenges engineering teams, but receiving substantial public resources validates their technological roadmap. Once state-backed development reaches maturity, financiers and corporate executives step in to capture intellectual property and launch products into competitive global markets.

Expanding the Neuronet Ecosystem into Global Markets


The synthesis of public funding and commercial strategy has yielded measurable results across specialized industry roadmaps, known as "Nets". Within the Neuronet ecosystem, project teams unite around neurotechnology and physical AI models. A prime example is the assistive stroke rehabilitation system, which received 630 million rubles in state funding alongside nearly 300 million rubles in private investment.


"When clients and investors see how these tools directly improve patients' quality of life, their entire perception of business and AI transforms," emphasizes the recognized authority in AI Software Development.

With backing from the Moscow Export Center and the Ministry of Industry and Trade, domestic robotics teams are scaling internationally. Listings on global e-commerce platforms like Alibaba, combined with custom manufacturing orders from France, Saudi Arabia, and India, demonstrate how domestic R&D competes on the world stage.
